On the onset of 2024, CM Siddaramaiah convened a meeting with top officials, urging them to enhance their efficiency and highlighting the promising prospects for the year ahead.
He stressed that the Congress governments guaranteed Sarkari Yojana 2023 have notably lessened the impact of drought on citizens, especially farmers.
Following New Year's
greetings exchanged at his office with senior officials, Siddaramaiah addressed
the substantial loss of crops due to drought, amounting to over Rs 35,000 crore
across 48 lakh hectares. He emphasized that government relief might prove
insufficient without nature's support, attributing the situation to climate
change. Expressing hope for adequate rainfall, he added, "We shall pray
for favorable showers."
With over 60% of the
population dependent on agriculture, Siddaramaiah credited government
guarantees for reducing the severity of drought, leading to increased
purchasing power among impoverished families.
Stressing the joint
responsibility for state development, he highlighted the people's trust in the
government's ability to drive progress and urged officials to meet public
expectations through effective scheme implementation.
