In an important move, a Committee
headed by Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan,
Vice-Chairman, UGC (University Grants Commission), New Delhi has submitted a proposal
to allow students to pursue more than one degree course from a different
institutions in India or abroad.
The proposal was submitted after thoroughly
considering the feedback from parents, students etc. The new proposal, if
implemented by the government will be a boon for the students in pursuing their
career prospectus.
Earlier the students were allowed to pursue a
part-time course or evening course only while getting enrolled in the regular
course.
But now under the new proposal a student can
now pursue an additional course from the same or any other Institute through
other modes of learning such as open learning/distance learning/Correspondence
or Online learning platform.
Since there won’t be any minimum attendance
criteria in the other mode of learning; its impact won’t be a problem while
attending the regular course; thus making him to eligible to study the two
degree programs simultaneously.
Accordingly, as per the new proposal say a
student is studying a BSc course from Lucknow University can now enrol for
another degree course say BA (Honours) from Delhi University or IGNOU or any
other institution which ultimately make his career prospect much brighter.
At the same time, they can also take up two different courses like movies and studies as well.
